Changelog
Platinum Five 1.0.0
The first public release of Platinum Five reworks the Sinnoh adventure to celebrate Pokémon’s first five generations. Sinnoh remains at its heart, with support for regular play and optional Nuzlocke runs.
Pokémon and battles
Pokémon from the first five generations are integrated throughout Sinnoh, with curated stat changes, modernized level-up learnsets and single-player-friendly evolutions. The Pokédex details each Pokémon’s changes and evolution requirements.
Selected Generation V moves and abilities expand battle options. See Added Moves, Added Abilities, the Move List and the Ability List for the available effects. The reusable TM system now spans TM01-TM116; the TM List and HMs cover machines and field moves.
Three difficulty modes
- Easy offers a more relaxed adventure.
- Normal is the intended Platinum Five experience.
- Challenge brings stronger teams, more deliberate movesets, more demanding battle strategies and more limited player options.
Difficulty changes enemy teams, movesets, encounters and some options available to the player, rather than simply scaling levels. Bosses and the Pokémon League have been redesigned; Enemy Teams documents the battles in each mode.
All difficulties share the same advisory level-cap progression. The current cap is displayed in game but is not enforced, leaving you free to decide whether to follow it. See Badge Progression / Level Caps for the limits and progression roadmap.
Encounters and exploration
Wild encounter pools have been curated around the expanded roster, with difficulty-specific pools where appropriate. Gifts, Eggs and Static Encounters have also been revised. Fishing uses the shared, location-based Old Rod system, with pools rebalanced for progression through the adventure.
Wild Encounters, Gifts & Eggs and Static Encounters cover detailed availability, calendar conditions and probabilities.
Optional Nuzlocke mode
Nuzlocke play is entirely optional. Choose the mode during the introduction; its rules become active when you first obtain Poké Balls. In-game support includes eligible wild encounter-zone tracking, Species Clause, permanent fainting and battle Bag restrictions.
Platinum Five is designed to be played both blind and documented. Play without advance knowledge, or use the encounter, trainer and progression references to plan your run in detail.
Quality of life
- Portable Box becomes available after Palmer and opens Pokémon Storage in supported overworld situations. See Important Item Locations for its acquisition.
- Infinite Candy is reusable and supports controlled training.
- Automatic fishing hooks a bite without a timed button press.
- Persistent Cut trees stay cleared when you leave and return.
- Repel renewal offers to use another of the same type when one wears off, if you have one available.
Presentation
A custom Platinum Five title presentation welcomes you to the adventure, while ambient Pokémon bring additional life to Sinnoh. Generation V Pokémon have been visually integrated alongside the existing roster. Pokémon League rooms and selected battle presentation have also been revised.
